OVC Officer

Omega Foundation is seeking to recruit an OVC Officer to perform the functions outlined below;
Main Purpose and Scope
The OVC
Officer will be responsible for providing technical support and guidance to the
affiliates and their constituent groups where this is applicable, to ensure
sustainable OVC service delivery.
She/he
will support the affiliates to facilitate, promote and ensure that the
activities of the groups are linked to other locally available services within
the government and other civil society organizations.
She/he
will provide close supportive supervision and spot-checks to beneficiary and
service delivery points (Schools, OF Service centres, communities etc).
Duties and Responsibilities

- Build
collaborative relationships within and outside Omega Foundation
fraternity, particularly with the Ministry of Health; Ministry of Gender,
Culture and Social Services; Ministry of Education and other stakeholders,
and the donor communities.
- Facilitate,
guide and direct the CBOs in a proactive approach to planning and address
identified OVC and caregiver needs.
- Document all
services provided to OVC and caregivers including lessons learnt, best
practices, and case studies of most Significant Change sharing with
partners for replication and up-scaling.
- Participate, on
behalf of the program manager, in county/local level AACs or other forums
as may be appropriate.
- Collate timely
OVC monthly and quarterly progress reports ensuring quality standards are
met.
- Plan and oversee
implementation of the education support to Omega supported OVC.
- Develop detailed
annual work-plan for OVC Care and support in the program implementation
sites and participates in project evaluations and assessments.
- In consultation
with the Program Manager, M&E officer and other stakeholders, develop
and implement OVC focused M & E tools friendly to all implementing
stakeholders/ partners.
- Facilitate needs
assessments, survey design, data gathering and analysis, needs
prioritization, strategy development, program design, supervision,
monitoring and evaluation, training, and project redesign as appropriate.
- Provide
coordination for all OVC care and support activities including the
establishment and supervision of affiliates involved in OVC work.
- Coordinate
implementation of OVC care programs with affiliates, and strengthen
affiliate capacity to carry out sustainable OVC care and support programs.
- Coordinate
identification and support of OVC in the continuum of care, promoting
mentorship for creating future leadership
- Coordinate
stigma reduction activities and work to get rid of obstacles to accessing
health services.
- Plan for and
undertake follow-up trainings for area community care coalitions and
stakeholders.
- Plan and oversee
capacity building of care-givers on community home-based support.

multitasking ability.
Proficient in Project Cycle management, aptitude for report writing and willing to work under pressure and within tight deadlines

Qualifications
- Bachelors’
degree in Social work, or any other Social Development studies, or Diploma
level education in Social work and community development..
- At least two
years of experience in community development work preferably in the field
of community health with Orphans and Vulnerable Children
- Knowledge and
experience with NGO operations and community-based programming.
- Psychosocial
support and life skills training experience will be an added advantage.
- Strong written
and verbal communication skills, especially with community-based groups.
- Knowledge and
use of computer (MS office and Excel).
- Ability to work
with minimal supervision and as part of a team is essential.
- Must demonstrate
sound training expertise and skills in a cross-cultural setting

Foundation is increasingly relying on computer systems in all areas of its
operations and decision-making processes.
It is
therefore crucial to ensure the correct running and maintenance of its IT
system. The IT technical support intern will monitor and maintain the computer
systems and networks of Omega Foundation.
The
incumbent will support the installation and configure computer/IT systems,
diagnose hardware/software faults and solve technical and applications
problems.
This
work will need the person to have an understanding on how information systems
are used and applying technical knowledge related to computer hardware or
software.

- Installing,
testing and upgrading new software from time to time
- Ensuring the
anti-virus software is installed, properly configured, regularly updated
and working properly on all PC and server stations
- Maintaining
server and network hardware
- Supporting the
roll-out of new applications and Setting up hardware.

computer equipment and installing as per requirements.
- Maintaining
computer peripheral equipment e.g. printers, scanners and projectors
- Maintaining
wireless networks, desktop and server computers
- Providing
technical support for hardware and software issues in the office
- Setting up and
maintaining backup system for file servers and in-office desktop computers
- Participate in
data entry and perform data cleaning.
- Monitoring and
maintaining computer systems and networks;

users' accounts and profiles and dealing with password issues;

The
incumbent is responsible for providing technical support and guidance to the

vibrant and sound enterprises exist and grow to meet market demands and
increase household incomes.
She/he
will support the affiliates to facilitate, promote and ensure that the
activities of the groups are linked to other locally available services within
the government and other civil society organizations.

will provide close supportive supervision and spot-checks to beneficiary and
service delivery points (Schools, OF Service centres, communities etc).

- Coordinate,
appraise and mentor Staff, CBOs and individuals in pursuit of
economic freedom,
- Assist OF, affiliates
and individuals in the identification of economic opportunities in various
value-chains
- Facilitate
entrepreneurship skills transfer for program staff, partners, affiliates
and stakeholders through trainings and other necessary means.
- Provide technical
support to staff of affiliates to ensure quality and timely implementation
of all program activities;
- Initiate linkage
to micro-finance and other lending institutions for enterprise
sustainability
- Work closely
with advocacy department at OF to mount lobby and advocacy initiatives
targeting microfinance and other lending institutions for friendlier
loaning services to CBOs, Support groups and individual enterprises.
- Preparation of
timely monthly, quarterly and end of year reports for the program; develop
work plans, project briefs, case stories and other documentation that will
result into quality reporting, profiling and lessons sharing for enhancing
the program strategy.
- Facilitate the
development, preparation and review of entrepreneurship training materials
as appropriate (hand outs, exercises, presentations etc)
- Through regular
needs assessment targeting OF supported schools and other OVC
institutions, identify potential IGA opportunities for funding to ensure
program sustainability.
- Commission and
coordinate surveys, appraisals, reviews and operation research activities
towards learning and showcasing best practice in OF economic empowerment
programming,
- Establish
business and market linkages for OF, affiliates and individuals producing
goods or offering services to increase productivity and incomes
- Provide support
to CBO focal persons to ensure effective implementation of project
activities, follow up, and mentor project beneficiaries to enhance success
of new and ongoing enterprises
- Conduct routine
field visits to affiliates and business visits for project beneficiaries
to offer technical assistance to support implementation and monitor
achievement of project outcomes.
